What a good point... Music always seems to serve some other purpose these days, and it rarely gets the listener's undivided attention. Best of luck in your future musical projects and thanks for the reminder to slow down and just LISTEN a little more.

on the tangent of consumerism, my partner Leah just called and describes how she's in line at Pete's Coffee - the kid in front commenting on having to buy a reusable cup as teacher won't allow to-go cups in class, but he guesses that's a good thing for the planet and the kids friend says I don't give a fuck about that - it's already fucked anyway. And Leah doesn't comment because (we're all so isolated and moving so fast and) she's standing there going to get a disposable cup. And as she looks around, the only guy not moving is the hobo across the street, standing there in his reflective shades, leaning back on his back back, watching everybody else rushing around, hyped up, buying stuff, rushing back to work, busy busy, quick coffee to fuel the insanity, and off running again, just like Leah reflects she is! Pause for thought. Where is the line?

It occurs to me that, as information architecture - hardware and software, appear to mirror the architecture of the brain, (de facto projection of human consciousness/creativity into technology) this "phase conjugate" process in the brain is reminiscent of P2P communication technology across the WWW.
"A phase-conjugate search could alert, associate and retrieve complex information distributed throughout the brain.
Information resonates, bounces, returns to the original site and reinforces it, which sends out an even stronger signal."

This comment copied for reference from the Smithsonin page linked:

I would like to clarify the attribution of the project in South Africa and give credit to the design team. The Mapungubwe Visitor's Center was the brainchild of Peter Rich, one of the most brilliant architects working today. The design of the soil vaults was carried out by an interdisciplinary team, with Michael Ramage taking a lead role. James Bellamy expertly directed the construction throughout. Matthew Hodge and Anne Fitchett consulted on the soil bricks and labor practices. Philippe Block analyzed the vault for asymmetrical loadings, and Henry Fagan served as a structural engineer for the supporting structure.

Thank you for your interest in our work,
John Ochsendorf

I think there are always and only two forces, or choices as to how we live our lives in each moment:
Love, or
Fear

Nik, I understand in a very personal way the feelings expressed in this poem. Perhaps we
are all afraid to love fully - but what else is there?
