The first day or so we all pointed to our countries. The third or fourth day we were pointing to our continents. By the fifth day, we were aware of only one Earth. — astronaut Sultan bin Salman Al-Saud
The first day or so we all pointed to our countries. The third or fourth day we were pointing to our continents. By the fifth day, we were aware of only one Earth.
(from A Book for the Hours of Prayer)
I live my life in growing orbits which move out over the things of the world. Perhaps I can never achieve the last, but that will be my attempt.
I am circling around God, around the ancient tower, and I have been circling for a thousand years, and I still don’t know if I am a falcon, or a storm, or a great song.
- Raine Maria Rilke
Love the melodramatic ending at the end of this piece (“addicted to nonsense”) – The tragi-comic drama of reality!! It’s interesting to me that, whilst the picture is bleaker than we might care to acknowledge in our waking lives, the end isn’t necessarily nigh! On the contrary. Radical change is nigh – and the saviour is YOU, baby! [Yes, yes - like, Neo - WAKE UP - You are the One]
… What really matters in our lives—the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the steady deterioration of the dollar, the mounting foreclosures, the climbing unemployment, the melting of the polar ice caps and the awful reality that once the billions in stimulus money run out next year we will be bereft and broke—doesn’t fit into the cheerful happy talk that we mainline into our brains. We are enraptured by the revels of a dying civilization. Once reality shatters the airy edifice, we will scream and yell like petulant children to be rescued, saved and restored to comfort and complacency. There will be no shortage of demagogues, including buffoons like Sarah Palin, who will oblige. We will either wake up to face our stark new limitations, to retreat from imperial projects and discover a new simplicity, as well as a new humility, or we will stumble blindly toward catastrophe and neofeudalism…

… And each and every one of you is being taken for fools. You work for an election or two to put chosen leaders in place, and expect those leaders to work their “leadership” magic to ram reforms down the throats of the corporate sector, failing to understand just how fully the corporate sector holds the cards. It’s not the campaign contributions: it’s the persuasion money. You’re looking for a savior. And like that Savior of biblical fame, s/he isn’t coming, as long as there are people like me out there. I personally won’t work for a company or organization that goes against my personal convictions. But 99% of us certainly will…

(underlying cultural influence on the theme of Christmas and New Year)
winter solstice is considered the strongest of the four main power points of the year. The light returns… masculine sun gains strength from this day till summer solstice (when sun begins to wane again.)
Now… is when we might ritually let go in our bodies, minds, hearts and spirit of what we don’t want to carry into the new cycle of increase.
Celebrate, release, renew!
To elaborate, here’s astrological notes by Patricia Liles: Winter Solstice – Sun enters Capricorn 0º at 10:47 AM MST on Mon. December 21st. This is an important solstice and a time to do something with community towards change. … Read the rest of this entry »
My new hero (after Hank Moody, Californication) – a strong and clear spokesman of the imminence of climate change as it relates to our collective evolution as an awake global community. Yes, wake up they say, wake up and smell the (fairtrade) coffee and we might truly call ourselves an intelligent species, or toast!? I encourage you to watch through part 2 to get the noble dude’s message. This corroborates our evolutionary potential as alluded to here in the inspirational largest movement on earth by Paul Hawken (at the Bioneers conference in 2007)
Again, in spite of RAW’s advise “do not adjust your mind – it is reality that is malfunctioning”, after successfully returning from Black Rock City after the 7th (or 8th?) journey to that wild and glorious place, I find my neurones are just beginning to regroup and the synapses starting to fire in the correct order once more, to fit consensus reality, kind of. But, each time one’s perspective is broadened by some radical experience, it’s hard to squeeze the consciousness genie back in it’s bottle, … Read the rest of this entry »
In pondering the theme at Black Rock City this year… [see also Burning Man and A Pattern Language] – really
A model of the brain in eight circuits according to the esteemed independent explorers of consciousness and human potential, Robert Anton Wilson and Timothy Leary
THE EIGHT CIRCUITS:
1. Bio-Survival 2. Emotional-Territorial 3. Laryngeal-Manual 4. Socio-Sexual … it gets really interesting here… 5. Neurosomatic 6. Neuro-Electric 7. Neurogenetic 8. Neuro-Atomic
BIO-SURVIVAL

Some humans never become aware of any level of reality beyond this one. There is no reason to call them human.

Hello… is anybody there… ? The UN says the world is in the midst of the greatest mass extinction since the big one – yep, Dinosoars – 65 million years ago. In 2007, one of the Earth’s oldest living species, the Baiji dolphin, was considered extinct and no longer to be found in it’s home, the mighty Yangtze River (over fishing and environmental degredation)
Cetaceans are more than sentinals of the sea or canaries in the coal mine – they are at the top of the food chain and when they are endangered and reaching extinction while everybody’s busy worrying about the markets – you know we’re in deep shit.

Obviously using food crops for fuel is a phenomenally stupid idea that could only be born of the rapacious corporate mind for profit before humanity.
An effective solution to the issue of using vegetable oils for diesel fuel is exemplified in this eye opening video on prolific algae farmed fuel oil production (though of course we’d like to see glass tubes or other materials in the place of the implicated seas of plastic here wouldn’t we) (And remembering, that this is still fuel for the archaic combustion engine and remains an interim solution for an antique technology.)
… the fire is coming up the slope towards our house. Flames are erupting immediately all around. Candles in the house are igniting spontaneously from the heat and gasses – there’s fire everywhere! I yell to Jessie call 911, call the neighbours, get help, we gotta run, but she’s just talking away to a girlfriend on the phone… I wake, heart pounding, it’s hot as hell, smoke filling the air. The wind has changed. I get up to close the windows, go back to bed, but the smoky air has my adrenalin still pumped – this is the subliminal edge we’ve (all) been living on for the last weeks…
